67 SiLA Products
and growing!

Find out and join the SiLA/ELRIG Workshop at Drug Discovery 2018, October 9th, London UK.

Workshop:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are starting to become established in pharmaceutical research and life sciences more generally – with some 69% of companies in the sector using AI and related techniques. Typical uses include mining images and other large data sets for new insights. The possibility is now emerging to use AI to help plan the next experiment – ‘to close the loop’ – for faster and better results. This workshop brings together experts in the lab, and AI to look at closing the loop with AI for two applications: Screening and Chemical synthesis. We will aim to address the following questions: What is possible now? What have the experiences been? What are the pitfalls? And finally, (and perhaps most important!) how can I benefit?

Join us for an interactive workshop session, led by industry experts, where we will present use cases and overviews from a range of Scientists. There will be plenty of time for questions and debate as well as presentations on innovative developments in the field.

Dear SiLA friends and members

Digitalization is transforming the way we live our lives in many different aspects. With Lab Automation & the Internet of Things the digital transformation comes to life also in science and analytical labs. This will definitely change the way we work, experiment, learn and discover.

At the Wega Informatik Breakfast Event on SiLA 2, 11th September in Basel, some of the implications of digitalization and automation in the lab was explored and a hands-on experience with connected instruments was provided.

Do not miss out to hear Oskari Vinko from UniteLabs talk about “Lab of the Future” and how SiLA 2 plays a great role in this. https://youtu.be/Cd090YPj8ao?t=947

Many thanks to Wega Informatik and UniteLabs for providing us this great presentation.

Hear SiLA Board Member Dr. Rob Harkness (Astech Projects) talk about SiLA 2: A step closer to real plug and play operation.

Connectivity enables collaboration. We are just starting to see the emergence of cloud solutions with an emphasis on connected mobile devices and can expect to see an increasing focus on “X-as-a Service” business models such as the Cloud Laboratory or cloud-based services which facilitate sharing of experimental workflows and results.

Come and hear speakers from Unilever, Ziath, Pantabio, CellShareUniversity of Leeds and other companies present their innovative products and experiences on Cloud Labs. More details and agenda available soon.

The number of participants is limited, so please reserve your seat now.

This year the annual SiLA conference will take a different form. We will be
organising a more compact event integrated within the main MIPTEC show.
Connectivity enables collaboration – this can mean integration of instruments,
integration of data, and more global access to services. We are just starting to see
the emergence of cloud solutions with an emphasis on connected mobile devices
and can expect to see an increasing focus on “X-as-a Service” business models such
as the Cloud Laboratory or cloud-based services which facilitate sharing of
experimental workflows and results.

The theme for the SiLA conference this year is therefore “SiLA Conference 2018:
Cloud Labs”. We will have a line-up of speakers from a select group of innovative
companies who will share more information about their services, the challenges
faced and the trends they are seeing, with an emphasis on how standards could be
advantageous to all of us.

Topics in-scope for the conference include:
• Cloud laboratory services
• Workflow design and sharing
• Cloud services to support collaboration
• Use of APIs to provide services
• Role of standards for data and control

Date: September, 13th
